What is Jumpshot Generosity?

Jumpshot Generosity is an initiative that empowers disadvantaged and at-risk youth in British Columbia through the transformative power of basketball.

In collaboration with secondary and elementary schools as well as community centers, Jumpshot Generosity strives to narrow the wealth gap by providing opportunities for underserved children in our communities to gain essential life skills, cultivate self-esteem, foster discipline, and more.

What do the participants receive?

Irrespective of their skill level or prior experience, every program member is granted complimentary access to training, mentorship, basketball equipment, and nutritious meals.

Why Jumpshot Generosity?

The imperative for impactful youth development programs has never been greater. Extensive market research highlights a compelling demand for accessible, character-building initiatives specifically tailored for underserved and at-risk youth.

A Troubling Reality: Currently, 17% of youths aged 12-19 grapple with significant risks or vulnerabilities, ranging from homelessness, substance abuse, mental health challenges, to family and community instability. These adversities severely limit their potential for success.

Insights from Market Research: Shockingly, 382,000 British Columbians are living in poverty, as measured by the Market Basket Measure. Within this statistic, an alarming 43,000 are children residing in low-income families, emphasizing the urgent need for proactive intervention and support.

Who is behind this?

The Singh Foundation

The Singh Foundation, a registered charity based in BC, was established with a core mission to cultivate opportunities for youth by encouraging active participation in their communities through sports and local programs. With a longstanding presence of over 50 years in the Surrey Community, the foundation deeply understands the significance of providing children a safe and healthy environment for play. Their overarching objective is to extend this opportunity to all children and families, irrespective of personal, societal, or economic barriers. The members of the Singh Foundation have actively served as volunteer youth coaches within the community for more than two decades.

The Klinik, Emerson Murray

Emerson Murray, an accomplished basketball player with an impressive resume, founded The Klinik, a basketball and athletic program dedicated to serving the youth of BC. Murray’s accolades include winning a Provincial Championship in 2009, playing Division-1 basketball for Cal-Berkeley (NCAA March Madness Tournament: 2011) and Seattle U, representing the Canadian Junior National Team, participating in the All-Canadian High School Allstar Game, and playing professionally in Europe & Asia. Murray’s profound personal connection with basketball drove his awareness of underserved and at-risk youth in the community, inspiring the inception of Jumpshot Generosity.
